How to make easy starch for ironing: Mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 1 quart water. Shake well. If you only need a little, cut the recipe in half or quarters. Gives a nice crisp appearance.
How to make easy ironing easier: It is best to iron items while damp. If your item is bone dry, then spray with a little water first and then iron as usual.
Old socks: Use old socks as dusters, place them on your hand with your favourite polish and away you go. Or cut off the tube and keep them as leg wraps to cover bandages on your dog.
Doggy boots in a pinch: Need boots? Layer 2 infant socks for each paw (8 in total), and then wrap a piece of duct tape around the top to keep them from falling off...works in a pinch.
Toothbrushes: Use them to get into minute crevices when cleaning or for gently scrubbing stains out of clothing before laundering.
Keep whites white: Add 1/2 cup lemon juice to your laundry's rinse cycle and then hang in the sun to dry.

Film roll cases: When sewing, keep a film roll case handy to drop in broken needles and pins. When full, toss in the garbage.
Rice: Cook rice in chicken or beef stock to give it more flavour.
Bed sheet clasps: Use aligator bed sheet clasps to hold your ironing board cover in place.
To limit ironing: Natural fabrics such as cotton and linen tend to wrinkle when left in the dryer too long and at high heat. Avoid this by stretching out the item and then hanging to dry, or by putting in dryer for only a few minutes and then taking out and hanging to finish drying.
