All my life, I have had a great love of animals, it doesn't matter whether they are domesticated or wild, big or small, I love them all, and if I had my life to do over, I would definitely have followed a career path of working more with animals in once capacity or another.
Since that hasn't happened, I am fulfilling that dream through another route.
One may ask; is it a good paying job? what are the benefits like?
Well, yes, the pay is fantastic....no, it doesn't bring in any extra cash to fill my bank account, in fact, it will cost me more than it ever will pay, but I am paid very well in the satisfaction I receive from the efforts I put forth, and the benefits....even better....fulfillment, life, freedom, and survival, both for me and the animal.
I am currently enrolled in courses which I hope will eventually reward me with certification as a Wildlife Rehabilitator.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to look after some small mammals, and it is this that has made me seek more education to better meet the needs of animals I may potentially care for.
Looking after a wild animal is a big undertaking, and there are many things to be considered. It is not just a matter of housing it in a cage or box, feeding it, looking after it for a few days or weeks, and then letting it go and hoping it survives...there is much more to consider.
